Bought this chair in early 2017 hoping to purchase a durable seat that would last me a longish (10+yrs) time. Checking in 5 years later and the seat not only seems to be meeting my expectations, but is now starting to exceed them. I'm a 6ft 200ish pound dude and have had quite literally 0 problems in the 5 years I've owned the chair; no armrest snaps, no misaligned parts, no missing nuts, no nothing through YEARS of daily use. My time on the computer usually ranges anywhere from 2-10 hours a day depending on my work schedule and editing backlog, but the only wear I've seen is some bolts getting loose after months. I've treated the chair very well when it's been at my setup and it's still held up after several moves to and from college alongside the usual (or lack thereof in this chair's case) wear and tear. The only thing I've needed to do is tighten the nuts on the underside of the chair every month or so, if you treat this chair right it will treat you even better.I've seen other reviews trashing the durability and longevity of the seat but I have a VERY hard time believing any of it personally. In my experience, if you don't have an issue controlling your temper and beating the chair when things don't go your way it'll live through it. Even if you lose your cool from time to time and hit the the armrest, as long as you don't hulk smash it you'll be fine coming from personal experience lol. Transporting it to and from without a partial disassembly is irritating due to the size but that's to be expected from the dimensions. One note is the price was substantially lower when I purchased it (around $300), but even then I would rebuy this chair in a heartbeat if by some miracle I managed to break the current one I own in the next 10 years. In summation, it's a fantastic chair for comfort and durability in my opinion. The price is a bit high all things considered, but you get what you pay for if you don't mind doing the basic bare minimum maintenance as with most tools. Huge bonus points for being comfortable enough to crash in if you don't feel like getting up and lugging a coding drained brain that should've rested hours ago upstairs to your bed. I'll update the review in a 5 more years when the chair will have been used religiously for 10 years or when it breaks, whichever comes first. Otherwise it's a pretty damn good chair. So I've owned this chair for about 3 weeks now and it's been good to me. I gave the back cushion to my wife because I need all the surface space I can get on the chair. I like sitting in chairs with my legs crossed rather than on the floor. I can't really do that with this one even without the pillow but that's fine. - Putting the chair together was kind of a nightmare, but what chair isn't? At least now that it's assembled we know about each of the pieces and parts and we can easily figure out what part needs replacing if we get to that point. My last couple of chairs of different brands started leaning off center and there was no way to get it back to where it was. If it happens with this one I think I would know which part to replace. - I got this right before Summer started. You don't really feel the effects of the fan unless the fan is on 100%, but the lower settings are good for ventilation I suppose. - Sometimes the cord coils around the chair and comes out of the brick, but that's to be expected. - You can lean the chair all the way back, and the chair itself also leans back, which produces differing effects. If you're laying on it your head will hit the head pillow. It's far from soft, but it does do well to support the head if you're watching TV with the chair leaned back and you just want to lean back but also see the TV still. - The armrests don't come off, but they do go down enough if you need more arm room or something. They're also flat enough to fit a mouse if you're, y'know...away from the desk and you need to control the computer from a distance. - There's no fans on the backrest, but I figured I could put a cold pack over the back of it.Overall, this is a good purchase. I don't think having the fans is worth the $500, but I'm not dissatisfied.Literally the day after I assembled the chair, upon sitting at it for the first time the left armrest snapped off.I email back and forth with Thermaltake several times, sending them pictures multiple times. Each time they said they could not see the pictures, and to send them in a different way.A reply from them got sent to my spam folder, and I missed it for a few weeks, and when I sent the reply, they stated that the "nature of the damage" and the "time since the purchase" which was, at that point, maybe 3 months, meant they would not be able to offer any repairs or other compensation.Other than the armrest that is broken, and my terror of breaking the other one, I like the chair. It's a shame I'll never buy another one given how badly this was handled. This is by far the best chair I’ve ever owned! I had the opportunity to try it out at Fry’s and was instantly hooked. I’m 5’9, weigh about 185lbs, and a muscular build. This is to give you an idea to what size I am that sits in this chair.Assembly: It was sort of a pain to assemble. Aligning the screw holes with the back of the chair was troublesome. It required a fair amount of pushing the back down to get it to align (recommend 2 people). Additionally, don’t be afraid to muscle in the two plastic pieces that fit over the side brackets; make sure they align and give it a solid whack in the middle. Just be aware, the M8 screws are already in the screw holes so don’t go looking for a parts bag aside from the alen key.Back Support: Just excellent! The chair is firm but cushiony. The pillows align perfectly to give me great support. Great for long gaming sessions.Quality: Top notch! The stitching, the quality of the parts, arm rest, the design and assembly are amazing. You can almost recline to 90 degrees!Overall: While it is expensive, you do get what you pay for. Don’t settle for second best, do it right the first time and get this one.I've been using this chair for months now, and I can say it's been great!Pros:- Looks super cool- Thicc cushioning on this thing - something that I've seen some gaming chairs lack!- Seat is super adjustable- Can lay back all the way and still somehow support you. I once had a nap like this.Cons- Putting my chair on initially proved to be harder than expected, with having to use some force to get the screws in for the chair to connectMild Complaints- Armrests move back and forward and down and up enough, but the side to side is only about 5cm. A little farther would be perfect!- Wheels don't move around too muchOverall, after all is said and done, I still love this chair. It has proven its worth to me. 5 Stars babyyyyyyyyyWe were looking for a chair with a firm straight back. The adjustable arms are a bonus.Large and comfortable. Exactly what I was looking for in a computer chair. As advertised , you get what u pay for...
