The PSP 2000 series is great when purchased brand new, but be carefull with second hand ones that might be modified or have 3rd party components!I have the same model of PSP that was straight from the factory so as an original owner, I know what the real thing is. This second hand one stated that it might come with aftermarket parts and accessories which is understandable, but it should at least have legitimate firmware. Counterfeit firmware, also known as custom firmware, can potentially "brick" the unit. While it can allow you to run stuff that the PSP would not normally be able to run, it can also damage your PSP and crush compatability with genuine firmware and accessories. The PSP that I received is incompatible with accessories like the PSP camera because it has fake firmware. If you try to install genuine Sony firmware that is safer for you PSP and allows you to use different accessories, the counterfeit firmware prevents you from doing it. I have to use weird downloads inorder to downgrade the firmware and install genuine Sony firmware. This can be risky if done incorrectly and should have been done while it was being refurbished! If an item has counterfeit firmware and is incompatible with genuine accessories and genuine firmware, it does not "function like new". Ebay is safer for second hand things like this. Amazon Renewed does have hit or miss success on other units as well. Like the Amazon Renewed Sony PS2 that destroys every disc you put in it. A new PS2 or certified refurbished PS2 does not reck your disks. The charger that this PSP came with was not the original charger. This would normally be understandable except one problem, the charger it came with gets REALLY hot, weighs nothing, feels cheap, and does NOT have any safety marks whatsoever. The aftermarket charger isn't even UL Listed!Summary:The PSP 2000 is best purchased factory sealed in the box but that gets REALLY expensive. This refurbished one is great when you have the genuine charger that won't burn your house down. The refurbished PSP definitely isn't as nice as my 100% original PSP 2000 and doesn't come with the factory installed apps like Sensme Channels, but it does everything else just like a new one. The only thing it doesn't do is support PSP accessories like the camera and allow you to install genuine firmware without having to worry about "bricking" the PSP. You can fix these issues with online downloads but it is risky when done incorrectly and should have been done prior to selling the unit. The only reason I'm giving this refurbished one 4 out of 5 stars is because losing the camera compatibility isn't much of a loss, plus I'm in a pretty good mood. Everything else, including games seem to work well so far. I will update this review if anything changes.
